  • Eight intensive teaching weeks in Oxford and London, and a final dissertation project;
  • Seminars, site visits, tutorials and a 24/7 online portal;
  • Accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

The MSc aims to provide students with:

  • a rigorous and intellectually-demanding education in the field of sustainable urban development;
  • a multidisciplinary structure that engages with world-leading research to the benefit of students’ professional practice;
  • an international understanding and knowledge of sustainable urban development;
  • an engagement with the academic excellence of the University of Oxford and the practical and research experience of the Prince’s Foundation.

“Like most things in life, you will get out of the programme what you put into it. Budget a lot of time to dive into the readings, to reach out to your colleagues, and have discussions with the excellent faculty. If you do this and bring an open mind, you can look back on your time at Oxford as some of your most fulfilling and intellectually stimulating days. I will always recall the programme fondly, and I have pride in putting so much of myself into facing the complex challenges posed by Sustainable Urban Development.”

Gavin Schaefer, MSc alumnus

Apply by 21 January 2022 to be considered for the MSc Programme Scholarship worth over £41,000. No separate application process will apply, but candidates seeking to be considered for these need to present a consistent record of excellence both academically and professionally. Full details are available on the MSc website.

The first application deadline is 12 November 2021.

Further information about the MSc and the application process can be found at www.conted.ox.ac.uk/ox-msud.

DPhil in Sustainable Urban Development

  • Study while working and complete within four to eight years
  • Conduct own research under the guidance of a University supervisor

“The SUD DPhil is an exceptionally rewarding experience, both academically and personally. The research will challenge you in a positive way and you will come away with much more than a doctorate. As part of the SUD programme you do very much feel like part of a community – despite not living on campus. The advice, support and opportunities from staff are invaluable and you are made to feel part of a much bigger support network during your studies.”

Katherine Maxwell, DPhil alumna

Further information about the DPhil and the application process can be found at www.conted.ox.ac.uk/ox-dsud.
